Ive Just Restored My Computer Using My Backup Disc And I Now Only Have A C Drive How Do I Get The Others Back?
i used my backup disc to restore my computer and i deleted the partition by mistake and now i only have a C drive would there be any way that i could get the other drives back or will i have to buy a new hard drive.
i take it you have only one hard drive,
when you first bought the comp it had the hard drive split into different size partitions….
if this is the case your restore disk should have had an option to do this,
put your back up disc in and wait till it loads and check the settings……
what comp is it?
sony? operating system? XP or vista ,
is it a laptop or desk top?
what size is the hard drive now and what size was it before?
try restarting machine should all come back if windows loads up not hard drive
recovery disks will recover your p.c with just one drive(c) and its impossible to make another partition without reinstalling windows with a normal windows disk(not recovery disk)
the reason for you getting just one drive is because a recovery disk returns the p.c back to its “factory state” which basically means the way your p.c was when you first took it out of the box
another way to create a partition now is to buy a piece of software called “partition magic” from http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/…
this will create a new partition, even if you have just one at the moment, and as its made by symantec you know its got to be good
hope this helps
good luck mate!
you’ll need a recovery software to get back data on a previously deleted partion
and you need a 2nd drive installed and formatted to recover to as recovery software does not write to the source drive when recovering
i used on track ez recovery pro v6
and or Hauri recovery software
and or Get Data Back for NTFS
all 3 work well
ontrack is the easiest
Hauri is more precise ( though some what of a pain )
Get Data Back is quick
f10 recovery
You would have to format the computer and re-set up the old partitions you had.
I would download Testdisk and see if you can get your partitions back.
