What Is The Best Way To Save Photos That Are On My Computer, As A Backup In Case My Computer Crashes?
I have lots of photos that I have downloaded on from my digital camera to my computer. I want to make sure that I don’t lose them in case my computer happens to crash. I want to back them up and never lose them.
Same then in DVD / CDs, you can all so upload them to sites so you can share them. Picasaweb, Shutterfly, Flickr are some sites.
you should back them up in a few places, put them on cd, and just in case save them somewhere online, like on photobucket…
I copy mine to disks. I use CD-RWs. RWs allow me to go back and play with the photos. CD-Rs only show them. Good luck!
There is only way to preserve your precious photos.
Put them on a 750 mb disk (using your CD slot) then they are there for your grandchildren in 2056.
If you don’t know how to do this you can get step by step tutorials at Cnet or from any computer manual at Best Buy or book store (marin graphics is easy as it shows step by step instructions with photos) or a tutorial right on your computer will tell you how.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
copy to the external hard drive or you can burn them into a CD
JUST BURN THEM TO A CD!
You can put them on a DVD. That is what I do.
how patient are you?
you could buy a 25 pack of cds and burn them all.. unless they’re all RAW files, you should be able to get them all on 2 cds…
or you could just go and invest a little more money in a external hard drive.. a 100 GB one shouldn’t be more than $50.. and that will be all you’ll ever need (unless you start doing video too)
burn them into cds or dvds then keep the discs in a safe place.
PICASA! ………… PICASA!…………….. PICASA!
Best practice is to use PAN Drives (USB)…
Advantages:
1. These are portable,
2. Economic,
3. Easy-to-carry, and most importantly
4. Easy-to-share on any other computer/laptop…

Major shortcoming of CDs/DVDs are:
1. Prone to scratches,
2. Are fragile,… Might break into pieces while carrying to places..
3. Expensive (compared to pan drive, external hard drive).

Alternatively, if you want to save your copper coins and are not interested to spare a penny, store them on your email account, (Gmail/Yahoo/hotmail/msn/aol) and have them forever.. But make sure you have a internet connected, that is always ON….
BTW, have you heard of PICASA….??? Try PICASA! Google Pic Sharing Utility…..
Make your choice depending on requirements and circumstances……. NNJOYYYY,,,,,
Burn it onto a CD. I wouldn’t burn it onto a DVD unless you have thousands of pictures. DVD’s are also more expensive and are used usually for movies. I personally think it also takes longer to burn.
Also put the pictures on facebook, etc… (I don’t usually do that because 1. i cant trust it (a major leak by my space can happen to any other online program) and 2. I have my own server from my school.
Talking about servers, put it on it if you have access to one.
