How Do I Create A Backup File Of My Website?
My website is hosted by Geocities, and I have a free plan, which means I don’t have any FTP services. I want to make a backup copy either on my computer or on a disk so my website is saved somewhere else. What is the easiest way to do this?
Open your site via IE select view then select source, copy and paste the text into notepad and save as either a txt document or an .htm place into a safe folder in your computer
Unless you pay for the premium package, geocities doesn’t let you FTP, so that makes things more difficult. The easiest thing to do is visit the site, then “Save as…” via Internet Explorer. This will save the page and all embedded files to your hard drive. But consider another option: rather than create the site on geocities, why not create it on your PC using Microsoft FrontPage or Word and upload that page to geocities using geocities’ File Manager. This give you more control. Good Luck.
