I want to replace my hard drive. How do i backup my entire hard drive into the hard drive that i will replace?
My hard drive has gone bad, and i want to backup my entire hard drive. However i don’t know how to do it and what equipment to use. I know how to remove the hard drive and install a new one.
I went to comodo.com and they offer a backup service called, “online backup”, where they back up your entire hard drive into their servers

The problem is its too expensive. They charge over $60 an year for that. I’m broke. Please help.
Plug both hard drives in. Transfer all from one to the other and then take old one out.
I would transfer all my files to a zip drive and then copy them to the new hard drive. Most memory is used by the OS and I think you could do it with 4 gigs or less.
I’ld advice you to use any external hard drive or a temporary storage devices.
Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> BackUp.
Here you can select the data which you would like to copy.
Or you can take the Hard disk to a local technician and make a ghost copy. A ghost copy means making a xerox copy of the already existing Hard disk.
Hope this will help you a lot.
I agree with the other answerer. I wouldn’t do an exact copy of your old drive to the new one; now that you have the chance you might as well do a fresh install of Windows, in my opinion. There are programs out there that can do an exact copy for you, but as you’ve noticed, you need to pay for them.
Just plug in the second drive and your PC will detect it. If it doesn’t show up, then check my source on how to format the drive in Windows to make it usable. Then you can drag and drop all the files you want to save onto the new drive
