Will my windows XP backup operating system work on another computer?

I bought a custom built computer and it came with windows xp preinstalled, but it came with a backup cd to reinstall windows if i needed to. Can I use this cd to install windows on another computer (mac w/ bootcamp)

How Does Vista’s File Backup Directly On The Hard Drive Work ? ?

So vista backs my files up on my hard drive ? Is that safe ? So if my computer explodes, I can maintain my files ? Also, another question is what files does it normally back up…’my documents’, etc ? Does it backup my programs…? Are there any alternatives to backing it up to my own hard drive. I do have an external hard drive….? Please tell me how. thanks.
